Tragic Accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway Claims Two Lives

In a devastating incident that occurred early on Wednesday, two members of a family lost their lives while four others sustained injuries after their car collided with a trailer truck at Adhe village near Urse on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Details of the Accident

The deceased have been identified as 61-year-old Sunil Thorat and his daughter Mayuri Sonawane, residents of Talegao Dabhade. The injured individuals include Thorat’s wife Sharada, son Akshay, daughter-in-law Tejal, and brother Dattatreya. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

According to reports from the police, the accident took place around 6 am when the family was returning from Mumbai. Sub-inspector S V Suryavanshi from Shirgaon police station stated that the trailer truck ahead of their car suddenly slowed down at Adhe village, leading to the collision.

Police Investigation and Charges

The driver of the trailer truck fled the scene after the accident. The police have filed a case against the driver for causing death by negligence. A complaint in the case has been lodged by Tejal, who was one of the injured passengers in the car.

Recent Incidents on Highways

This tragic incident follows another recent car accident on the Pune-Nashik Highway, where three individuals lost their lives and one person was injured when their vehicle collided with a tempo near Manchar taluka of Pune district.
