Several months following her untimely demise, Magnus Daniel Humphrey, a 41-year-old individual, was taken into custody by authorities at his residence in Hopkins on an unrelated warrant. Humphrey was pinpointed as the “suspect responsible” for the murder of Mooney.

In a statement released by the LAPD, it was disclosed that Humphrey was arrested at his Minnesota home for an unrelated federal warrant and is currently on federal probation for a narcotics offense. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has levied murder charges against Humphrey, who has waived extradition and will be transported back to Los Angeles to face the legal ramifications of his actions.

According to court records cited by the New York Post, Humphrey has a history of convictions for various felonies in Minnesota and Illinois, encompassing gun charges, assaults, sexual assaults, and false imprisonment.

The autopsy conducted on Mooney revealed that she was last captured on video surveillance at her apartment on September 6. Authorities were summoned to her residence on September 12 after her mother requested a wellness check, leading to the discovery of her deceased body.

The autopsy findings indicated blunt force trauma on her body, alongside the presence of benzoylecgonine, cocaethylene, and ethanol in her system. The medical examiner’s report highlighted that while the blunt force injuries were not immediately life-threatening, they pointed towards Mooney being involved in a physical altercation prior to her demise. The report also underscored the uncertainty surrounding the role of alcohol and drugs in her tragic passing.

The murder charge against Humphrey also includes a special allegation of murder during the commission of torture, as per court documents. The nature of the relationship between Mooney and Humphrey remains unclear at this juncture, leaving authorities to delve further into the details surrounding this harrowing incident..
