In a heartbreaking incident in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka, an 83-year-old woman lost her life while trying to escape from a fire that broke out in her apartment. The victim, identified as Jasuri Devi, tragically passed away, while her granddaughter, 30-year-old Pooja Pant, suffered severe injuries in the incident.

Fire Breaks Out in Residential Building

The fire, caused by a gas leak, engulfed two flats on the fourth and fifth floors of a residential building in Dwarka Sector 10. The blaze was first reported around 12:30 pm, prompting the Delhi Fire Services to dispatch six fire engines to the scene.

Atul Garg, the chief of DFS, revealed that two women sought refuge on the balcony of the flat where the fire originated. In a desperate attempt to save themselves, they made the harrowing decision to jump from the building. Jasuri Devi succumbed to her injuries, while Pooja Pant was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
