Stolen Vehicle Suspect Arrested in Costa Mesa After Allegedly Ramming Car Into Officers

A stolen vehicle suspect was apprehended after reportedly ramming her car into officers in Costa Mesa on Wednesday.

The suspect, identified as Destiny Sherer, 29, by the Costa Mesa Police Department, was spotted driving the stolen vehicle around 12:45 p.m. Police attempted to pull Sherer over, but she refused to cooperate and instead rammed into patrol vehicles as she fled the scene.

Additional units were called in, and a motor officer was the first to arrive on the scene. While pursuing Sherer on surface streets, another vehicle collided with the officer, causing him to crash in front of a shopping center near Harbor Boulevard and Nutmeg Place. Fortunately, the officer sustained only minor injuries.

Upon spotting the stolen vehicle parked at the shopping center, other police units arrived and set up a perimeter as they searched for the suspect. Sherer was eventually located inside a store at the plaza and taken into custody.
