Woman identified in Brooklyn Park Apartment Complex Shooting

A tragic incident unfolded at the Brooks Landing Apartments in Brooklyn Park this week, resulting in the death of Deana Cathlene Doely, a 29-year-old resident of the area. The Hennepin County coroner’s office confirmed her identity and stated that she succumbed to gunshot wounds, with the cause of death being ruled a homicide.

Authorities were alerted to the situation when reports of an active shooter at the apartment complex came in shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, Brooklyn Park officers discovered Doely’s lifeless body with multiple gunshot wounds.

During the course of their investigation, law enforcement officers came across a second crime scene within the building. Despite thorough searches, the suspect and any potential additional victims remained elusive within the complex.

Subsequent efforts led police to the 8400 block of Xerxes Avenue N, where a suspect was apprehended and taken into custody. A weapon was recovered at the scene of the arrest, providing crucial evidence in the ongoing murder investigation.

Brooklyn Park Police Inspector Elliot Faust emphasised that the shooting was not a random act and hinted at a prior connection between the individuals involved. The department has clarified that there are no outstanding suspects at large, focusing their attention on unravelling the circumstances surrounding Doely’s tragic demise.
