Investigation Continues into Tragic Death of 3-Year-Old Boy in Lancaster

Authorities have identified the 3-year-old boy whose neck was slashed in Lancaster earlier this week, sparking a devastating investigation into his untimely death.

The tragic incident unfolded just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, when deputies rushed to the 43400 block of 57th Street West, south of Avenue K, in response to a medical rescue call from concerned citizens. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a young victim, later identified as David Jacques Hernandez of Lancaster, suffering from a severe laceration to the neck. Despite efforts to save him, Hernandez tragically succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, as reported by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Authorities are treating the case as a homicide, with the Los Angeles Times citing sources who revealed that the boy was found in a bathtub with his throat fatally cut. The chilling discovery was made by a family friend who visited the home at the request of one of the boy’s relatives.

Additionally, deputies found Rena Naulls, 39, at the residence suffering from a “medical emergency.” Naulls, who is the live-in boyfriend of the child’s mother, reportedly attempted to take his own life at the scene. He was swiftly transported to a hospital for treatment, where he remains in stable condition under the care of medical professionals.

Notably, Naulls has been identified as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation, although no arrests have been made at this time.
