Former Funeral Home Owner Miles Harford Still at Large Following Discovery of Human Remains in Denver

The Denver Police Department (DPD) has confirmed that Miles Harford, the former funeral home owner wanted in connection with the discovery of human remains in Denver, has not yet been arrested. Harford, 33, is facing charges of abuse of a corpse, forgery, and theft after the remains of a woman and at least 30 other individuals were found at a property he had rented.

Initial Discovery and Arrest Warrant

The investigation began on February 16 when officers found the remains inside a hearse on the property on S. Quitman Street. Despite efforts to have Harford turn himself in, he has not cooperated with law enforcement.

Public Appeal for Information

The DPD has issued a Metro Denver Crime Stoppers alert seeking information from the public to help locate Harford. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Informants can remain anonymous and may receive a reward of up to $2,000.

Background of the Case

Harford, who previously owned Apollo Funeral and Cremation Services in Littleton, reportedly faced financial difficulties leading up to the closure of the business in September 2022. Investigators found that he may have provided incorrect cremains to families due to his inability to fulfill obligations to cremators.

Identification of Victims

The Denver Medical Examiner’s Office is working to identify the remains found at the property, which are believed to be associated with individuals who passed away between 2012 and 2021. Families who suspect they may have received incorrect cremains from Harford are encouraged to contact the Denver Police Major Crimes Division and Denver Police Victim Assistance Unit.
