Sunshine Studios, a cozy music venue just south of Colorado Springs, is gearing up to host a special concert in memory of a young musician who tragically lost his life on the UCCS campus. Samuel Knopp, a 24-year-old music student at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, was one of the victims found dead in a dorm room last Friday, alongside 26-year-old Celie Rain Montgomery, both shot in a senseless act of violence.

One of Knopp’s bandmates, Anthony Scornavacco, fondly recalls the musical bond they shared and the passion Knopp exuded while playing the guitar. The devastating news of his friend’s untimely death prompted Scornavacco to organize a benefit concert to raise funds for Knopp’s grieving family.

Remembering a Musical Talent

Scornavacco reminisces about the first time he met Knopp at a local music store in August 2023. He was immediately struck by Knopp’s exceptional guitar skills and infectious smile that lit up the room whenever he played.
