Accident – Death – Obituary News : A student at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs has been taken into custody following an alleged double homicide in a campus dormitory on Friday, as reported by the Colorado Springs Police Department. The suspect, identified as Nicholas Jordan, a 25-year-old individual from Detroit, Michigan, is facing two charges of first-degree murder. One of the victims of the tragic incident was a 26-year-old woman from Pueblo, Celie Rain Montgomery, and the other victim was identified as 24-year-old Samuel Knopp from Parker.

University spokesperson Jenna Press confirmed on Tuesday that Jordan was enrolled as a student at UCCS at the time of the shooting. The campus police responded to a call reporting shots fired just before 6 a.m. on Friday, leading them to the Crestone House dormitory where the tragic incident occurred. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of an adult female and an adult male.

It was later revealed that Jordan and Knopp were roommates, according to Ira Cronin, a spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Police Department. The investigation into their relationship is ongoing, and further details have not been disclosed at this time. The Colorado Springs Police Department’s homicide unit took over the case from the university police, obtaining a warrant charging Jordan with two counts of first-degree murder on Friday evening.

Following a search, Jordan was apprehended without incident on Monday morning in the 4900 block of Cliff Point Circle East, just a short distance from the university. He is currently being held in the El Paso County Jail on a $1 million bond. During an advisement hearing on Tuesday, a representative from the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office requested that Jordan’s bond be increased to $5 million cash-only, citing flight risk and public danger concerns. The judge granted a preservation of the bond issue for a later date.

The campus community at UCCS is deeply saddened by the loss of the victims, with classes being canceled on Monday to allow for a memorial walk in their honor. University Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet expressed her grief in a university-wide email, highlighting the musical talents of Knopp and acknowledging Montgomery’s connection to the community. The investigation so far suggests that the incident was isolated and not a random attack on the university or its students.
