Two Men Charged with Murder Following Deadly Shooting at Kansas City Super Bowl Parade

Last week’s Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City turned into a tragic event as a woman lost her life and 22 others were injured in a deadly shooting incident. The violence erupted when two men, identified as Dominic Miller and Lyndell Mays, engaged in a heated argument during the celebration.

According to authorities, the altercation escalated when Mr. Mays allegedly pulled out a handgun, prompting others to draw their weapons as well. Tragically, it was Mr. Miller who authorities believe fired the fatal shot that claimed the life of 43-year-old Lisa Lopez Galvan.

Suspects Facing Multiple Charges

Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker of Jackson County announced during a press conference that the two men have been charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. Both suspects were also shot and wounded during the incident, requiring them to receive medical treatment before being taken into custody.

Currently, Miller and Mays are being held on a $1 million bond as they recover in the hospital. The charges against them come in addition to two teenagers who were previously charged with gun and resisting arrest violations in connection to the shooting.

Family Seeks Justice

The family of Lisa Lopez Galvan expressed gratitude for the swift arrest of the suspects, stating, “Though it does not bring back our beloved Lisa, it is comforting to know that the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and the KCPD made it a top priority to seek justice for Lisa and the other victims of this tragedy.”
