17-Year-Old Charged with Murder Following Shooting in St. Paul, Minnesota

A tragic incident in St. Paul, Minnesota, has led to the death of a 16-year-old boy who was shot and left with life-threatening injuries. The suspect, a 17-year-old, has been charged with murder following the victim’s passing.

On February 10, the St. Paul Police Department received a distressing call about a shooting in the vicinity of Western Avenue North and Topping Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the 16-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was rushed to Regions Hospital for urgent medical attention but succumbed to his injuries on February 18. The victim has been identified as Kalven Sin Suy, a resident of Savage, Minnesota.

Subsequent investigations led the authorities to a residence on the 800 block of Western Avenue North on February 16, where they apprehended the 17-year-old suspect believed to be connected to the shooting. The suspect was detained at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of aggravated robbery and assault.

Following further legal proceedings, the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office filed a petition on February 21 to charge the suspect with murder and aggravated robbery. This tragic incident marks the third homicide in St. Paul for the year 2024.
