New Delhi: Tragedy struck at the Khanauri border as a 24-year-old protester, identified as Jugraj Singh, succumbed to injuries sustained when the Haryana Police dropped tear gas shells on the crowd. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, causing outrage among the protesting farmers. According to a report by the Indian Express, Jugraj Singh died of a head injury at the Khanauri border. Medical authorities at the Patran hospital suspect a bullet injury, with the final verdict pending a post-mortem examination at the Rajindra Hospital.

Contrary to the claims circulating on various platforms, the Haryana Police issued a statement on Wednesday afternoon denying the farmer’s death in the clash at the Shambhu border. The police asserted that no casualties had been reported and that only two policemen and one protester sustained injuries on the Data Singh-Khanauri border and were receiving medical treatment.

Earlier in the day, security forces resorted to firing tear gas shells to disperse the agitators at the Khanauri border, escalating tensions in the region.
