Woman Sentenced to 36 Months in Prison for Attempted Pharmacy Robbery in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida — A 48-year-old woman from Port St. Lucie has been handed a 36-month prison sentence for attempting to rob a drugstore in the city last year, the Department of Justice confirmed on Tuesday.

Jennifer Scee, a resident of Port St. Lucie, entered a guilty plea on November 15, 2023, and was subsequently sentenced by District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks in West Palm Beach. In addition to her prison term, Scee has also been ordered to serve three years of supervised release following her incarceration.

The incident in question took place at the Aster Discount Pharmacy, where Scee was identified as the suspect in an armed robbery attempt. She initially faced charges of robbery with a firearm and possession of a weapon as a convicted felon.

Under the federal Hobbs Act, Scee was prosecuted for her involvement in the attempted robbery, which is defined as any act of extortion or robbery that affects interstate or foreign commerce in any capacity.

The attempted robbery occurred at around 1:30 p.m. on April 21, 2023, according to Port St. Lucie police. Scee entered the pharmacy and held an employee at gunpoint, demanding the opioid Dilaudid. When informed that the drug was not available, she leaped over the counter and brandished the firearm at the employee before fleeing in a gray Honda Civic coupe.

Following the incident, law enforcement officers obtained video surveillance footage from the plaza where the pharmacy is situated. The footage captured Scee wearing a long-sleeved white shirt, black leggings, a black hat, and a surgical mask as she entered and exited the pharmacy on foot.

Furthermore, surveillance footage showed a 2001-2005 Honda Civic Coupe with a sunroof and dark-tinted windows entering and leaving the plaza’s parking lot around the time of the robbery. Subsequent investigations revealed that a 2004 Honda Civic Coupe registered to Scee was associated with the crime.

Scee was apprehended at her residence in Port St. Lucie, and the case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and enhancing community safety. The program involves collaboration between law enforcement agencies at all levels to develop strategies for combatting violent criminals.
