17-Year-Old Arrested in Connection with Shooting Incident in Peoria

PEORIA (25News Now) – Authorities in Peoria have arrested a 17-year-old individual on multiple charges related to a shooting incident that took place in January. During the incident, gunfire was exchanged with law enforcement officers, and a police vehicle was struck.

Peoria Police spokesperson Semone Roth confirmed that the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday after being identified as a person of interest. The arrest took place at a business located in the 1500 block of Northeast Jefferson Avenue, where the individual was taken into custody without any resistance.

The 17-year-old has been charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm while under the age of 21, and also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Following the arrest, he was transported to the juvenile detention center.

Earlier this month, another individual, Donte A. Wright, was arrested in connection with the same incident. Wright’s car was identified as the vehicle from which the initial shots were fired, thanks to a license plate reader. Wright faced charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
