39-Year-Old Father of Four Killed in Random Shootings in Northwest Toronto

A tragic incident unfolded in northwest Toronto over the weekend as a 39-year-old father of four from Ghana, Adu Boakye, became the victim of a senseless shooting. The incident, which took place in the area of Jane Street and Driftwood Avenue, shocked the community and left many questions unanswered.

Seemingly Random Shootings

According to Det. Phillip Campbell, Boakye and a 16-year-old boy were shot indiscriminately less than 24 hours apart while waiting for a bus in the same area. The victims had no prior relationship with the perpetrators and were simply going about their daily routines when they were targeted.

Police Investigation

The police have been actively investigating the incidents and have determined that the shootings are connected. The suspects used a suspected stolen vehicle, a black Acura RDX, which was later found abandoned in Hamilton. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the vehicle or the shootings to come forward.

Potential Gang Activity

While the shootings bear hallmarks of gang activity, investigators have not established a clear motive behind the attacks. Both victims, including the 16-year-old boy who remains in critical condition, were innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.

Suspect Description

The police have released surveillance images of a suspect described as a Black male between the ages of 18 and 25. The suspect was last seen wearing a black coat, white hoodie, black pants, black shoes, a black face covering, and possibly a white surgical mask. Authorities are confident that the suspect will be identified with the help of the community.

Community Vigilance

In response to the shootings, community members have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police. Chief Myron Demkiw emphasized the importance of cooperation between law enforcement and the public in solving such crimes.

The back-to-back shootings have left a profound impact on the community, with Supt. Andy Singh highlighting the innocence of the victims as a cause for alarm. Despite the lack of arrests at this point, authorities are optimistic about the progress of the investigation and are counting on tips from the public to lead to a breakthrough.
