Teen Arrested in Connection to Fatal Shooting on West Broad Street in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — An 18-year-old individual has been taken into custody and charged in connection to a tragic shooting incident that took place along West Broad Street in Richmond. The incident resulted in the unfortunate death of one individual and left another with critical injuries.

On Tuesday, February 20, authorities from the Richmond Police Department apprehended 18-year-old Aaron Marcus, a resident of Richmond, and formally charged him with malicious wounding and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Police have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming.

The arrest follows the initial response of Richmond police officers to the 300 block of West Broad Street at 3:22 a.m. on Sunday, February 18, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a man identified as 31-year-old Dwight Wright, from Richmond, who had sustained a gunshot wound and was unresponsive.
