Man Found Dead in Illegal Dump Site Identified
The identity of a man found slain last week in an illegal dump site has been revealed by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
The victim has been identified as Marlin Dontae Yelder, a 37-year-old resident of Birmingham.
The discovery was made by a passerby around 10:17 a.m. last Thursday in the 4200 block of 48th Avenue North. Yelder was found face down in a pile of trash in an illegal dumping site in Inglenook.
Sergeant LaQuitta Wade stated that a person who collects items in the area stumbled upon the body and requested someone to call 911.

A man was discovered deceased on Thursday, February 15, 2024, in east Birmingham.(Carol Robinson)
Yelder was officially pronounced dead at the scene at 10:36 a.m.
Initially, there was uncertainty regarding foul play, but the coroner’s office confirmed that he had sustained gunshot wounds.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
