RAWALPINDI:

In a series of unfortunate events that unfolded in Rawalpindi, three alleged robbers met their demise while a police constable sustained injuries in two separate police encounters within a span of 14 hours on a Monday, as confirmed by the local police department.

The first incident occurred when a police team conducted a raid in a neighbourhood under the jurisdiction of Dhamial police station in pursuit of suspected robbers. The suspects, upon spotting the officers, resorted to firing their weapons. Constable Inam Ali was unfortunately hit by a bullet, prompting the suspects to flee. Despite this, the police persisted in their pursuit, leading to a crossfire that resulted in the fatal shooting of one of the alleged robbers, identified as Hamad. The injured constable was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The second tragic incident unfolded as a police team was escorting Syed Ghani, a suspect implicated in a robbery-murder case, to assist in the recovery of stolen goods in the Sadiqabad police precinct. However, their mission was intercepted by Ghani’s associates, who opened fire on the law enforcement officers. A fierce exchange ensued, resulting in the fatal injuries of Syed Ghani and his accomplice, who tragically succumbed to their wounds while en route to a nearby medical facility. The remaining associates of the perpetrators managed to evade capture.

Rawalpindi City Police Officer Khalid Hamdani commended the courage displayed by the officers involved, highlighting the invaluable contribution of these young members to the Rawalpindi Police force.
