Tragic Accident Claims Two Lives in Rock Hill, South Carolina

In a devastating turn of events, two young men lost their lives in a tragic accident that occurred in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The York County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as 27-year-old Tyland Archer from Kannapolis and 21-year-old Justin Villanueva from Charlotte.
Details of the Incident
The incident took place on Thursday, February 15th, when a Rock Hill Police officer attempted to pull over a Dodge Challenger for defective lights. As the vehicle turned left onto Harper Gault Road from Saluda Road, the driver of the Challenger decided to flee from the officers.
Despite the officer activating their siren and blue lights, the driver of the Challenger continued to accelerate the vehicle, showing no intention of stopping. The officer made the decision to disengage from the pursuit and began slowing down.

Tragically, as the officer reached the intersection of Harper Gault Road and Oakdale Road, they discovered the Challenger had crashed into the wood line. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle, while the passenger had been ejected from the car.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and pronounced the passenger dead on arrival. The driver was airlifted to Atrium Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Investigation and Revelations
Following the accident, the South Carolina Highway Patrol Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team and the Rock Hill Police Department Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team launched investigations into the incident. It was revealed that the Challenger had been reported stolen from another jurisdiction.
Authorities are working diligently to piece together the events leading up to the tragic accident and determine the circumstances surrounding the stolen vehicle. The community is left mourning the loss of two young lives and grappling with the shock of the incident.
