Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Married Couple in Coimbatore District

A devastating incident unfolded near Annur in Coimbatore district on Monday, resulting in the untimely demise of a 57-year-old man and his 46-year-old wife. The couple, identified as T. Kanagaraj and K. Vasanthamani, met with a fatal accident when the two-wheeler they were travelling on was struck by a speeding car.

The tragic collision occurred at around 11 a.m. at Ganeshapuram on Sathyamangalam Road. Kanagaraj, a resident of Muthalipalayam in Kattampatti panchayat near Annur, was riding the moped with his wife seated behind him when the heart-wrenching accident took place.

Reports from the Annur police indicate that a fast-moving multi-utility vehicle travelling in the Coimbatore – Annur direction collided with the couple’s moped, resulting in the tragic loss of lives. Despite being rushed to the Government Hospital in Annur for emergency medical attention, both Kanagaraj and Vasanthamani were pronounced dead upon arrival.

Subsequently, the bodies of the deceased were transferred to the Government Hospital in Mettupalayam for further examination through a post-mortem procedure to ascertain the exact cause of death.

An investigation into the fatal incident has been initiated by the Annur police, who have registered a case against the driver of the multi-utility vehicle, identified as Periyasamy from Erode. The authorities are working tirelessly to uncover the circumstances that led to the tragic accident that claimed the lives of the married couple.
