Brad Reay, a state prison offender who was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder in the death of his wife Tami, has passed away. The tragic incident took place in Hughes County in 2006, where Tami Reay went missing during the overnight hours of Feb. 7-8. It was two days later when a South Dakota National Guard pilot flying over the Pierre area spotted a body by the spillway at the Oahe Dam, later identified as Tami.

Brad Reay, who was 64 years old, was serving his sentence at the Jameson Annex infirmary when he passed away on Feb. 18, 2024.

Reay had claimed that his daughter, who was 12 years old at the time of the incident, killed her mother because she was upset. The couple had recently informed their daughter about their upcoming divorce, which may have triggered the tragic event.

This shocking development left a lasting impact on the community, as the details of the case unfolded. The location of the incident, near the Oahe Dam in Hughes County, became a point of interest as authorities investigated the circumstances surrounding Tami Reay’s death.
