Accident – Death – Obituary News : A day after a tragic fire claimed the lives of three individuals at a perfume factory on the outskirts of Bengaluru, the BJP is calling for action to be taken against illegal factories operating in residential areas. The Leader of Opposition, R Ashoka, expressed concern over the frequency of such incidents, noting that Sunday’s fire was the fifth deadly fire in recent months.

In response to the criticism, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda reassured the public that the government would prioritize fire safety measures to prevent future mishaps. Additionally, Yeshwanthpur BJP MLA S T Somashekar urged the government to provide compensation to the families of the deceased, who were reportedly from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The victims of the fire were identified as Saleem, the 50-year-old owner of the perfume factory, along with Mahaboob Pasha, 35, and Arbaz Khan, 14. The Kumbalgodu police have initiated a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including cheating, culpable homicide, forgery, and non-payment of fines.

According to a police officer, all of the victims resided in the same neighborhood, and the landowner, Vittal, is currently on the run. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with loud explosions and flying perfume bottles causing panic among residents. Govindappa, a local resident, recounted his efforts to ensure the safety of his family amidst the chaos.

The police officer further revealed that the factory employed over 10 workers, many of whom were paid a daily wage of Rs 600. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, with authorities awaiting the Forensic Science Laboratory report for further insights.

The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by illegal factories operating in residential areas. As the community mourns the loss of life, there is a pressing need for stricter enforcement of safety regulations to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
