Accident – Death – Obituary News : Elgin, MN (KROC-AM News)- An injury crash caused a traffic slowdown on a highway in southeast Minnesota over the weekend. The incident took place at around 11:20 on Sunday morning, involving three vehicles in total. The State Patrol reported that the crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 42 and Wabasha County Rd. 25 just north of Elgin. A Jeep traveling west on County Rd. 25 was struck by a southbound SUV, while a second SUV at the intersection was also involved in the collision.
The lone passenger in the Jeep, 19-year-old Katrina Marie Jirik of Edina, was evaluated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries and was later released. The driver of the Jeep, 20-year-old Nicholas Edward Sachs of Dublin, OH, did not sustain any injuries. The SUV drivers, identified as 26-year-old Rose Camille Staloch and 44-year-old Scot William Engler, both from Elgin, were unharmed as well. It was confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and everyone involved was wearing seatbelts.

First responders from the Plainview Ambulance, Plainview Fire Department, Plainview Police Department, Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, and State Patrol were at the scene for approximately an hour. The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office advised motorists to avoid the intersection during the investigation. The collaboration of different emergency response teams ensured a swift and efficient handling of the situation.
