John Moore, a resident of South Webster, was taken into custody on Saturday following a shooting incident on Lick Run Lyra Road.

SOUTH WEBSTER— Sheriff David Thoroughman of Scioto County reported that on Saturday, February 17, at approximately 1:45 p.m., a woman contacted law enforcement to request assistance while retrieving belongings from her home in South Webster. The caller expressed concerns due to a previous altercation with her ex-partner in Jackson County the night before.

The situation escalated when, at 1:59 p.m., another call was made to 911 stating that the woman’s father had been shot by her ex-boyfriend.

Thoroughman confirmed that the suspect was apprehended at 2:02 p.m. and emergency medical services were able to attend to the injured party at the scene.

John Moore, aged 36 and a resident of South Webster, has been charged with attempted murder, a first-degree felony, and felonious assault, a second-degree felony. He is currently held without bail for the attempted murder charge, while a bond of $20,000 has been set for the felonious assault charge. Moore is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Tuesday, February 20.

The victim, identified as Joeseph Morris, aged 46 and hailing from Fairborn, was initially taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center before being transferred to Grant Trauma Center in Columbus for further treatment.
