The Arrest of Suspect in Jones County Shooting
Authorities in Jones County, Mississippi have confirmed the arrest of James Tickner, a suspect in the shooting and killing of 33-year-old William Leo Busker in Jones County on Sunday afternoon. Tickner, a resident of Taylorsville, was apprehended by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department in Florida on Monday and is currently awaiting extradition back to Jones County.
The investigation into the tragic incident began when a body was discovered at a residence on Shiloh Church Road on Sunday, February 18. Tickner was identified as a suspect in the case through the diligent efforts of the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
Upon responding to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of Shiloh Church Road, authorities found Busker with fatal gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to revive him, Busker was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s department has confirmed that Busker’s next of kin have been informed of his passing.
Homicide Investigation Underway
The Jones County Sheriff’s Department has classified the investigation into Busker’s death as a homicide case. Investigator Cody Pitts is leading the ongoing efforts to gather evidence and uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Authorities have indicated that additional charges may be brought as the investigation progresses. The cooperation of various law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service, the Smith County Sheriff’s Department, and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department in Florida, has been instrumental in the apprehension of the suspect.
