A tragic incident unfolded in Florida last week as a Shepherdsville man, Wesley Barber, 62, and his brother, James Barber Sr., 61, were discovered shot to death in their home in Largo. The suspected killer, identified as James Barber Jr., 28, a relative of the victims, is now in custody.

Wesley Barber had travelled to Florida to visit his brother and nephew before embarking on a family vacation. However, when he failed to show up for the planned trip, concerns arose among his family members. Upon visiting James Barber Sr.’s home, they made a grim discovery.

Upon entering the residence on Smoketree Court, authorities were met with a chilling sight – blood seeping from under the front door. Inside, they found the lifeless bodies of Wesley and James Barber Sr., both having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Capture of the Suspect

Through the aid of surveillance footage with audio recordings, law enforcement was able to identify James Barber Jr. as the perpetrator. Fleeing the scene before their arrival, he was apprehended by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office the following day. He now faces two charges of first-degree murder.
