The Tragic Crash in Las Vegas

On a Friday morning in Las Vegas, Nevada, a fatal DUI crash shook the community. A 31-year-old man, identified as Robert McKinney II, found himself in custody after attempting to flee the scene of the devastating incident.

The Scene of the Crash

The crash took place at the intersection of Craig Road and Vandenburg Drive, involving a Dodge Challenger and a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The motorcycle, carrying a female rider in her late 40s, was traveling eastbound on Craig, while the Challenger was heading westbound.

The Tragic Collision

The collision occurred when the Challenger made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, resulting in a catastrophic impact between the two vehicles. The motorcyclist was rushed to UMC Trauma Center with severe injuries and sadly succumbed to those injuries on Sunday, Feb. 18.

Arrest and Impairment

After the crash, McKinney attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended by law enforcement. Officers noted signs of impairment during his arrest, leading to his booking into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center on charges of DUI resulting in death, hit-and-run, and other traffic-related offenses.

Investigation and Closure

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death, following notification of next of kin.
