Tragic Rollover Crash Claims Life of Good Samaritan on I-10 in Pinal County

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) has provided further information regarding a devastating rollover crash in Pinal County that resulted in the death of a kind-hearted bystander.

According to a DPS spokesperson, the tragic incident unfolded on the eastbound lanes of the I-10 at milepost 185, just north of Casa Grande. The initial collision involved an American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance that rolled over on the highway.

Investigations revealed that the ambulance was travelling eastbound on the I-10 when the driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle lost control, veering back and forth across the road before eventually rolling over and coming to a stop between the number two lane and the right shoulder. The ambulance was occupied by a male driver and a female passenger, both AMR employees, at the time of the crash.

Two compassionate individuals, identified as a man and a woman, stopped to assist the occupants of the overturned ambulance. Tragically, an unrelated male driver collided with the ambulance, striking both the bystanders in the process. The impact forced the ambulance off the road to the right.

Regrettably, the male good Samaritan succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the female bystander was rushed to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The male ambulance driver and the driver of the vehicle that collided with the ambulance sustained minor injuries, while the female ambulance passenger was transported in critical condition. Investigators suspect that impairment may have played a role in the collision and are looking into the matter.

The DPS Vehicular Crimes Unit is currently handling the investigation into the incident.

AMR has issued a statement concerning the crash, confirming that their ambulance was involved in the accident with two of their personnel on board. Fortunately, there were no patients or passengers in the ambulance at the time. Both AMR employees were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
