The somber discovery was made by a vigilant homeowner in Stanwix, who noticed a snowmobile in a ditch at the intersection of Route 69 and John Street on Monday morning. Upon closer inspection, the homeowner found Christian Kukowski unresponsive next to the vehicle.

Upon receiving the distressing call, sheriff’s deputies, investigators, and the sheriff’s snowmobile unit rushed to the scene. Tragically, Kukowski was pronounced deceased upon their arrival. The Stanwix Heights Fire Department and AmCare Ambulance also provided assistance at the scene.

Initial investigations suggest that Kukowski was travelling alone, heading westbound on a trail along Route 69 when his ski collided with a concrete marker. The impact propelled Kukowski into a utility pole, causing his snowmobile to veer off the trail and into the ditch.

Authorities suspect that limited visibility due to snow squalls and excessive speed may have played a role in the tragic accident. As the investigation continues, our hearts go out to the family and friends of Christian Kukowski, who are undoubtedly grieving the loss of their loved one.
