BSF Jawan Dies in Tragic Accident While on Duty

In a heartbreaking incident that occurred late Sunday night, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan lost his life in a tragic accident. The deceased, identified as Chottu Ram Jat, aged 42, was on duty patrolling the border at Elendari in Kumarganj Block when the unfortunate incident took place. Hailing from Tilonia in Rajasthan, Jat was a dedicated member of the 91 Battalion, BSF.

Accidental Shooting Claims the Life of a Brave Soldier

According to BSF sources, the jawan was patrolling the area on a bicycle when he accidentally fell from his bike. In the midst of the fall, his service rifle went off, firing two rounds that tragically hit his head. Despite the immediate response of fellow jawans upon hearing the gunfire, Jat succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Swift Response and Investigation

Following the incident, senior BSF officials rushed to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the jawan’s untimely demise. Kumarganj Police recovered the body on Monday afternoon and transported it to Balurghat District Hospital for a thorough post-mortem examination.

“The body of the BSF jawan has been sent for autopsy at Balurghat Hospital,” confirmed a police official from Kumarganj. Subsequently, the BSF announced that once the post-mortem is completed, the jawan’s remains will be respectfully returned to his family in Rajasthan.
