Man in Custody After Pursuit in Lake Hallie

Lake Hallie, Wisconsin (WEAU) – A man has been apprehended following a high-speed pursuit in Lake Hallie.

Authorities in Lake Hallie reported that on February 17, 2024, an officer observed a vehicle travelling at excessive speeds and swerving erratically between lanes.

Upon reaching Business 53 near the intersection of Highway 124 and County Highway OO, the vehicle came to a stop. The driver, later identified as 44-year-old Chad Nylen from Eau Claire, emerged from the vehicle wielding a machete in one hand and a large knife in the other. Nylen then re-entered the vehicle and sped off, prompting the officer to initiate a pursuit.

Nylen once again halted the vehicle, exited, and attempted to flee on foot. Police officers gave chase, instructing Nylen to drop the weapons. Despite repeated commands, Nylen refused to comply, leading officers to use non-lethal ammunition and a taser to subdue him.
