Authorities Identify Officers and Firefighter Killed in Burnsville Domestic Shooting

(Burnsville, MN) — Authorities have provided more information regarding a tragic domestic shooting incident that claimed the lives of two police officers and a firefighter in Burnsville. The victims have been identified as Officers Paul Elmstrand, aged 27, and Matthew Ruge, also 27, along with 40-year-old SWAT paramedic Adam Finseth. Minnesota B-C-A Superintendent Drew Evans revealed that the incident occurred when an armed individual barricaded himself inside a residence with seven children. Evans stated, “During the course of the standoff, the suspect opened fire on the responding officers, resulting in the tragic deaths of Officers Elmstrand, Ruge, and Finseth.” Sergeant Adam Medlicott was also injured in the shooting but is expected to recover. The suspect was later found deceased in the home, and all the children were safely evacuated.
