Tragic Incident in Balangir: Teenager Commits Suicide After Family Members Die in Gas Cylinder Explosion

On a tragic Saturday in Balangir district, a 17-year-old youth named Drona Adabaria took his own life after experiencing the devastating loss of his mother and three other family members in a gas cylinder explosion at Kanut village under Belpada police station limits.

The series of unfortunate events began on February 10 when five members of the Adabaria family, including a neighbour, were injured in a gas cylinder explosion. The incident left the family in shock and turmoil, with the aftermath proving to be too much for young Drona to bear.

According to police sources, the night following the tragedy, Drona was unable to sleep and was heard crying continuously inside a room. Eventually, he took the drastic step of ending his own life, leaving the community reeling from the string of losses.

A relative of the Adabaria family shared, “After being informed by the villagers, a police team reached the village and recovered Drona’s body. The authorities have sent the body for postmortem to further investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.”
