Security guard allegedly shoots SLEX employee dead in Laguna

LAGUNA, Philippines — A tragic incident unfolded in Barangay Batino, Calamba, Laguna on Saturday afternoon as an employee of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) was allegedly shot dead by two security guards following a heated argument.

The victim, identified as Ronald Santilla, was with his companion Robert near the perimeter fence of the Calamba Premiere International Park (CPIP) when the altercation occurred at around 1:15 p.m.

Video footage goes viral

The incident, which took place near the administration building of CPIP, was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media platforms. In the footage, the two guards, known only as alias Demetrio and Al Jun from the Hunter Security Agency, can be seen confronting the Santilla brothers and asking them to leave.

According to reports, the situation escalated into a quarrel, with Demetrio allegedly leaving the scene momentarily before returning with a gun. The video footage then shows the guard shooting Ronald multiple times, resulting in his tragic death at the scene.

Arrest and surrender

Following the shooting, the suspect, Al Jun, attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by responding law enforcement officers. It is reported that the suspect has since expressed intentions to surrender to authorities.

As investigations continue into this shocking incident, the community mourns the loss of Ronald Santilla and demands justice for the senseless act of violence that took his life.
