Zoo Visitor Killed by Lion After Climbing Enclosure Wall

A tragic incident occurred at the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park in Tirupati, India, when a zoo guest, identified as Prahalad Gurjar, 34, climbed a wall and chain-link fencing to enter a lion enclosure in an attempt to take a selfie. Despite warnings from a zoo employee, Gurjar jumped into the enclosure and was subsequently mauled to death by the 12-year-old lion.

The zoo staff, including the animal keeper and security personnel, tried to save Gurjar, but the lion dragged him inside the enclosure, resulting in his death within 10 minutes. The lion was then moved to its night house while authorities retrieved the body.

According to reports, Gurjar appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the incident. The enclosure itself was secured with a 4-foot wall and a 6-foot iron fence.
