Phoenix Police Arrest Multiple Suspects in Connection to Burglaries Linked to South American Theft Groups

Phoenix police have made significant progress in their investigation into a series of burglaries across the Valley that are believed to be linked to South American Theft Groups.

The arrests occurred on Friday when multiple suspects were observed by Phoenix police officers near 44th Street and Camelback Road. The suspects were seen entering a house in the area and attempting to break in. Upon exiting the residence, the suspects quickly made their way to a waiting minivan. However, their escape was thwarted when officers blocked the vehicle from leaving. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Sue Ellen Guiterrez Saez, made desperate attempts to flee by ramming into unmarked police cars, but was ultimately unsuccessful. Four individuals exited the minivan and attempted to flee on foot. Three of the suspects, including Saez, 21-year-old Johan Salvo Alacon, and 25-year-old Manual Eduardo Fuentes Gomez, were apprehended by law enforcement. Despite an extensive search, the fourth suspect remains at large, though various burglary tools were recovered in the vicinity.

Saez is now facing multiple charges including burglary and aggravated assault on a police officer. Alacon and Gomez have been charged with various burglary-related offenses, with Alacon also having a felony warrant against him.

In recent months, law enforcement agencies in the Valley have been on high alert due to a spate of ‘dinner-time burglaries,’ where suspects break into homes during the evening hours to steal valuables such as cash, jewellery, purses, and other high-value items. Scottsdale police reported 21 such incidents between November 1 and January 23, with additional break-ins under investigation in Phoenix, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Chandler, and Gilbert.

Investigators believe these burglaries are connected to the SATG organised crime group and have identified several outstanding members. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
