Rourkela Man Killed by Friend Over Death Rumour

A 42-year-old man met a tragic end in Rourkela, Odisha, after his friend allegedly killed him over a rumour of his death. The victim, identified as Nihar Ranjan Acharya, was a land broker and an old vehicles trader, according to the local police.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred on Friday night when the accused, Keval, 44, confronted Acharya about the false rumour. The confrontation quickly escalated into a physical altercation, leading to Keval fatally stabbing Acharya. Locals rushed Acharya to the nearby Ispat General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Arrest of Accomplice

In a shocking turn of events, another individual named Ashok Srivastav, 41, was apprehended on charges of instigating Keval to commit the heinous crime. The police are currently investigating the motive behind the attack and the extent of Srivastav’s involvement.

Police Statement

Rabindra Sahu, in-charge of Jhirpani police station, confirmed that Acharya’s body was handed over to his grieving family following a postmortem examination. The authorities are working diligently to bring justice to the victim and ensure that those responsible for his untimely demise are held accountable.
