Accident – Death – Obituary News : In a tragic incident that occurred in Lockport, Niagara County, two individuals lost their lives following a police chase and subsequent crash. The victims have been identified as 29-year-old Michael L. Walker and 28-year-old Ana G. Cerrato, both residents of Rochester.

The harrowing events unfolded just before 2 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon, when a deputy from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office spotted a stolen car along Route 31 near Chestnut Ridge Road. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly accelerated at a high speed, ultimately losing control and colliding with a tree. The impact of the crash proved fatal for Walker and Cerrato, who were pronounced dead at the scene.

Niagara County Sheriff Mike Fillicetti recounted the pursuit, stating, “The vehicle continued to drive at a high rate of speed coming into the City of Lockport. Our car was still in pursuit but it had to back off due to the dangerous speeds the vehicle was traveling at. At some point they lost control of the suspect vehicle lost control striking a tree.”

Following the tragic incident, the Lockport Police Department has taken over the investigation, with plans to review body cameras and in-car footage from the patrol unit. As a result of the ongoing investigation, East Avenue between Washburn and Spring Streets remains closed at this time.
