Two Rochester Residents Killed in Stolen Vehicle Crash in Lockport

Two individuals from Rochester have tragically lost their lives after a stolen vehicle crashed into a tree in Lockport, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver has been identified as 29-year-old Michael L. Walker, and the passenger as 28-year-old Ana G. Cerrato, both residents of Rochester.

The incident took place just before 2 p.m. on Saturday when a deputy on patrol was alerted to the stolen vehicle by an in-car license plate reader. After confirming the vehicle’s stolen status through the DMV database, the deputy initiated a traffic stop in a parking lot on Chestnut Ridge Road in Lockport.

As the deputy was issuing verbal commands to the driver, the individual accelerated westbound on Chestnut Ridge Road at a high rate of speed. The deputy pursued the vehicle briefly before the stolen vehicle accelerated further, increasing the distance between them.

Despite maintaining visual contact at reduced speeds, the deputy witnessed the stolen vehicle lose control and collide with a tree from a distance.

Upon arrival at the scene, the Lockport Fire Department confirmed the deaths of both occupants of the vehicle.

The investigation is currently ongoing in collaboration with the Lockport Police Department and the New York State Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation.
