Man Killed in Odisha’s Dhenkanal District for Allegedly Making Obscene Comments on Women

Angul (Odisha), 18th February: A tragic incident unfolded in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district as a man lost his life after allegedly making obscene comments on women. The victim, identified as Dharmananda Dehury from Kandar village, was involved in a fatal altercation with the accused, Sridhar Dehury. The incident occurred on Friday night, leading to the arrest of Sridhar on Saturday, as confirmed by a police officer.

According to Prabha Tripathy, the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Kamakhyanagar, Dharmananda, who was under the influence of alcohol, visited Sridhar’s residence on Friday evening. It was there that he reportedly made inappropriate remarks towards the female members of Sridhar’s family, sparking a confrontation between the two men.

As tensions escalated, Sridhar reacted by attacking Dharmananda with an axe, fatally striking him on the neck. The altercation quickly turned tragic, resulting in the loss of Dharmananda’s life on the spot. Tripathy stated, “As soon as we received the information, we rushed to the scene and discovered that Dharmananda had been murdered. Subsequently, we apprehended Sridhar from his home and brought him into custody.”

The police have initiated a murder case in connection with the incident, with ongoing investigations to uncover the full details surrounding the tragedy. The community is left in shock and mourning over the untimely death of Dharmananda Dehury, a victim of a senseless act of violence.
