Man Arrested in Cambria After Holding Victim Captive and Leading Deputies on Pursuit

A man has been taken into custody in Cambria, Illinois after allegedly holding a victim captive overnight and engaging in a pursuit with Williamson County deputies. The incident unfolded on Sunday, February 18, prompting a swift response from law enforcement officers.

Domestic Battery Incident

At 9:11 a.m. on that fateful Sunday, deputies from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office were alerted to a domestic battery report in rural Cambria. Upon their arrival, they were met with a startling discovery – a woman had returned home the previous evening to find Larry D. Parsons hiding in her bedroom.

Parsons, who was armed with a knife, proceeded to threaten the victim and physically assault her. The victim was held captive until she managed to escape in the early hours of Sunday morning. Parsons reportedly made chilling threats, indicating that both he and the victim would not survive the night.

High-Speed Pursuit

Following the victim’s report and medical treatment, deputies headed to the victim’s residence to ensure Parsons had vacated the premises. As they approached, they observed Parsons loading the victim’s belongings into his vehicle.

An attempt to apprehend Parsons resulted in a dramatic pursuit through the streets of Cambria. Parsons, driving at dangerous speeds, lost control of his vehicle, colliding with multiple utility poles and eventually overturning into a ditch. Emergency services had to employ the “jaws of life” to extract Parsons from the wreckage.

Charges and Arrest

Following the crash, Parsons was arrested and taken to a local hospital for medical attention. He now faces a litany of charges, including aggravated unlawful restraint, violation of an order of protection, domestic battery, interference with the reporting of domestic violence, criminal trespass to a residence, residential burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated fleeing & eluding, resisting obstructing a peace officer, reckless conduct, reckless driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, disobeying a stop sign, failure to signal when required, improper lane usage, and operating an uninsured vehicle.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has stated that Parsons is no stranger to law enforcement, with a known history of violence towards deputies and a penchant for attempting to evade capture.

Once Parsons is discharged from the hospital, he will be transferred to the Williamson County Jail to await further legal proceedings.
