Grandmother of Murdered 5-Year-Old Boy Demands Justice

In a tragic turn of events, the grandmother of a 5-year-old boy who was allegedly murdered by his foster mother in Columbus, Ohio, is demanding justice for her grandson. Shanda McGee has expressed her deep disappointment in the system, stating that she feels it failed her grandson, Darnell Taylor.

McGee revealed that she had raised concerns with the caseworker at Franklin County Children’s Services about Pammy Maye, the 48-year-old foster mother who, along with her husband, was the legal guardian of Darnell. Despite McGee’s repeated warnings, Darnell’s body was tragically discovered in a storm drain just five miles from Maye’s home.

The harrowing ordeal began when Darnell went missing, prompting an Amber Alert to be issued. Maye’s husband contacted the police, informing them that his wife had confessed to killing Darnell before fleeing in a gray Jeep.

Hours later, the Jeep was located at an apartment complex in Brooklyn, Ohio, but neither Maye nor Darnell were found at the scene. It wasn’t until a day later when Maye was spotted and reported as “suspicious” that authorities were able to locate Darnell’s body.

McGee expressed her heartbreak at the manner in which Darnell’s life was taken, stating, “That really broke my heart because it’s like first of all, why did you do that? Then you threw him out in the sewage like he was a piece of trash.”

Both Darnell’s maternal and paternal grandparents had been fighting for visitation rights, as Maye had reportedly been blocking their calls and preventing regular contact with the child. A court hearing on the matter was scheduled for March 11, but tragically, Darnell will never get to see it through.

McGee believes that the caseworker should have taken more decisive action to ensure that the grandparents’ rights were being upheld. She stated, “As a caseworker, you should have stepped up, even if you had to involve law enforcement, and say you guys are not abiding by the grandparents.”

Despite the pain and grief she is experiencing, McGee remains resolute in her pursuit of justice for her grandson. She declared, “Pammy, whatever the judge throws at her, let him throw it at her. Right now, I say, ‘God, it’s in your hands’ because I know God will do right and find justice for my grandson.”
