The incident took place on Thursday evening when Tewksbury police responded to a report of an assault at Tewksbury State Hospital. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been stabbed by Kobs, who had fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A search operation involving the Tewksbury Police Department Drone Unit, Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, and K-9 units was launched to locate Kobs. The following morning, officers received a tip about a suspicious person in the Lee Street area. Kobs was discovered hiding in a shed and was taken into custody without incident. He was later treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.

However, the situation escalated when Kobs allegedly attacked two officers at the Tewksbury Police station while being booked. He reportedly threw a telephone at one of the officers, resulting in additional charges being filed against him. Kobs is currently being held without bail at the Tewksbury Police station and is scheduled to appear in Lowell District Court on Tuesday for his arraignment.

According to Tewksbury Police Chief Ryan Columbus, preliminary investigations suggest that the incident at Tewksbury State Hospital was not a random act. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
