DENVER (KDVR) — An arrest warrant has been issued for Miles Harford, a former funeral home owner, after human remains were discovered at his former residence in Denver.

The Denver Police Department issued the warrant for 33-year-old Harford on charges of abuse of a corpse, forgery, and theft. The investigation revealed the remains of a woman and over two dozen professionally cremated individuals on a property from which Harford was evicted.

Harford, who was the owner of Apollo Funeral and Cremation Services in Littleton, is believed to be in the Denver area. The business closed in September 2022 due to financial difficulties.

Discovery of Remains Following Eviction

On February 6, Denver police and officials from the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner responded to a residence on South Quitman Street following reports of a suspicious incident. The homeowner, who was cleaning the property after Harford’s eviction, found boxes containing cremated remains.

Cmdr. Matt Clark stated during a press conference that several boxes of temporary urns containing cremated human remains were found in a crawlspace on the property. Approximately thirty temporary urns were discovered, some of which were empty.

Body Found in Parked Hearse

While investigating, authorities inspected a hearse parked at the residence and found the body of a deceased woman, along with additional cremated remains. The woman, identified as 63-year-old Christina Rosales, passed away from natural causes in August 2022. It is believed that her body had been concealed in the hearse since her death.

Harford had provided the Rosales family with what they thought were Christina’s cremated remains, but it was later discovered that the remains belonged to another individual. George Rosales, Christina’s husband, expressed his shock and disappointment at the situation, stating, “We were misguided. Just knowing she was in the back of the car, hearse, outside, just covered with a blanket. That’s not how someone is supposed to be put to rest.”

Police also found six urns containing cremated remains inside a U-Haul parked outside the residence. Authorities suspect that the recovered remains belong to at least 30 individuals who passed away between 2012 and 2021.

Appeal to Clients of Apollo Funeral and Cremation Services

The Denver Police Department is urging clients of Apollo Funeral and Cremation Services who did not receive their loved one’s remains or had concerns about the funeral home to contact the Denver Police Major Crimes Division and Denver Police Victim Assistance Unit at 720-913-6610. DNA testing will not be conducted on unlabeled remains due to the loss of DNA integrity after cremation.

Individuals with information related to the case are encouraged to reach out to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Authorities have confirmed no connection between this incident and the funeral home investigation in Fremont County.
