Two Persons Killed in Tragic Collision in Nashville

Tragedy struck in Nashville on Saturday evening when a speeding BMW sedan, driven by a 31-year-old man from Bowling Green, Kentucky, ran a red light at the intersection of Woodland and S. 1st Streets. The BMW collided with an Infiniti Crossover SUV, resulting in the deaths of the BMW driver and a passenger in the Infiniti.

Details of the Collision

According to the investigation, an officer had attempted to stop the BMW for a traffic violation near 1st Avenue South and Gay Street. The BMW briefly stopped before accelerating away. The officer chose not to pursue the vehicle. Shortly after, the fatal collision occurred.

Video footage from a nearby camera captured the moment of impact. The Infiniti was stationary at the intersection of Woodland Street, waiting for the red light to turn green. As the light changed, the BMW, travelling at high speed, ran the red light and crashed into the Infiniti at the passenger side door. The force of the impact caused the Infiniti to overturn, while the BMW collided with a light pole and a fire hydrant.

Substances believed to be cognac and marijuana were found near the BMW, raising questions about the circumstances leading up to the collision.
