Man Killed in Odisha for Making Obscene Comments about Women

Dhenkanal, Odisha: A tragic incident unfolded in Dhenkanal district of Odisha, where a man lost his life for allegedly making obscene comments about women. The deceased, identified as Dharmananda Dehury of Kandar village, fell victim to a violent altercation on Friday night.

Details of the Incident

The accused, Sridhar Dehury, was arrested by officials following the fatal confrontation. Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Kamakhyanagar, Prabha Tripathy, shed light on the sequence of events leading to the untimely demise of Dharmananda.

According to Tripathy, the tragedy unfolded when Dharmananda, under the influence of alcohol, visited Sridhar’s residence on Friday evening. It was alleged that he made inappropriate remarks towards the female members of Sridhar’s family.

Violent Turn of Events

Upon learning of the incident, Sridhar confronted Dharmananda, resulting in a heated exchange of words. The situation escalated rapidly, culminating in Sridhar wielding an axe and striking Dharmananda fatally on the neck, leading to his immediate demise.

SDPO Tripathy commented on the swift police response, stating, “As soon as we received the information, we proceeded to the scene and discovered the lifeless body of Dharmananda. Subsequently, Sridhar was apprehended from his residence and taken into police custody.”
