Man Killed in Odisha Over Alleged Obscene Comments Towards Women

In a shocking turn of events, Dharmananda Dehury of Kandar village in Dhenkanal district, Odisha, was brutally murdered following an altercation over inappropriate remarks made towards the female members of Sridhar Dehury’s family.

Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Kamakhyanagar, Prabha Tripathy, revealed that the tragic incident took place on a fateful Friday night when Dharmananda, under the influence of alcohol, visited Sridhar’s house and uttered lewd comments towards the women in the household.

Upon learning about the disrespectful behaviour, Sridhar confronted Dharmananda, leading to a heated argument between them. Subsequently, Sridhar grabbed an axe and fatally struck Dharmananda on the neck, resulting in his immediate death at the scene.

SDPO Tripathy stated, “Upon receiving the distressing news, law enforcement officers swiftly responded to the situation. Sridhar was apprehended at his residence and taken into custody for further investigation.”

The authorities have initiated a murder case in connection with the incident, and a thorough probe is currently underway to ascertain all relevant details and bring justice to the victim’s family.
