Two teenage boys have been charged with the murder of a 16-year-old who was tragically stabbed to death in Rawnsley Park in Easton, Bristol. The victim, Darrien Williams, was attacked last Wednesday by two individuals wearing masks who fled the scene on bikes before he sought help on Stapleton Road.

After the brutal attack, Darrien ran to nearby Stapleton Road where a kind motorist offered assistance before he collapsed on West Street in Old Market. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Darrien tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The Avon and Somerset police swiftly arrested two 15-year-old boys on suspicion of murder, who have now been formally charged by the Crown Prosecution Service. In addition to the murder charges, the teens are also facing charges of possessing a knife in a public place.

The police were alerted by the ambulance service to the tragic incident on West Street at 6 pm last Wednesday. Despite the swift response of emergency services, Darrien could not be saved.

Following a meticulous review of the evidence collected, the Crown Prosecution Service has authorized charges against the two 15-year-old suspects. Darrien’s family has been notified and is receiving support from specialist liaison officers during this difficult time.

Speaking on the incident, Detective Inspector Neil Meade, the senior investigating officer, expressed his condolences to Darrien’s family and reiterated the police’s commitment to preventing knife crime and educating young people on its consequences.

In response to the recent spate of violent incidents in Bristol, the police have implemented enhanced stop-and-search powers in certain areas and launched a new operation targeting youth violence. They have also engaged with headteachers to provide support and reassurance as students return to school.

Tragically, Darrien’s murder follows the deaths of Mason Rist, 15, and Max Dixon, 16, who were also victims of fatal stabbings in the Knowle West area of the city.

Police are urging anyone with information or relevant video footage to come forward and assist in the investigation by calling 101 and quoting reference 5224039827.
