Deadly Shooting in University Village Claims Life of 19-Year-Old
CHICAGO (WLS) — Tragedy struck in University Village on Saturday afternoon as a 19-year-old individual lost their life after being shot, as reported by the local authorities.
The incident took place at the 1900-block of West Hastings Street in the early evening hours on the West Side, with the victim succumbing to gunshot wounds sustained during an altercation.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Damian Gomez by the Cook County Medical Examiner, was involved in a dispute with an unidentified male who proceeded to shoot him in the chest and shoulder.
Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the young victim tragically passed away later that same evening. The circumstances surrounding the altercation and the motive behind the shooting remain under investigation.
Authorities have not disclosed whether the victim and the shooter were known to each other prior to the deadly encounter. As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
In the wake of this tragic event, the community is left grappling with the loss of a young life and the unanswered questions surrounding the circumstances of the shooting.
