South Jordan Drive-By Shooting Suspect Sentenced to Possible Life in Prison

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 17, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Anthony Dominic Rendon, the individual responsible for a fatal drive-by shooting at a South Jordan party in 2021, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence that could extend to life behind bars.

A recent announcement from the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office revealed that Rendon has been sentenced by a 3rd District Court judge to serve 15 years to life for the murder of 19-year-old Kelly Glaubensklee. Additionally, Rendon received a separate sentence of three to five years for a charge of third-degree felony discharge of a firearm, to be served consecutively to the murder conviction.

Moreover, Rendon was given additional sentences of three to five years for each of the remaining nine counts of third-degree felony discharge of a firearm. These sentences are set to be served concurrently with the initial charges.

In response to the sentencing, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill expressed gratitude towards Judge Pettit for acknowledging the severity of Rendon’s actions and the threat he posed to the community. Gill stated, “We appreciate Judge Pettit considering the gravity of the crimes committed by the defendant and the danger he posed to our entire community when she sentenced him to a minimum of nearly 20 years in prison.”

Rendon was apprehended at his family’s residence in West Jordan just two days after the fatal shooting took place on June 6, 2021.

Details of the Incident

According to court documents, the incident unfolded in the early hours of June 6, 2021, when South Jordan police responded to reports of a fight with shots fired at a residence where a party was in progress.

Witnesses at the scene recounted that multiple altercations had occurred, resulting in physical fights and confrontations. Amidst the chaos, Rendon brandished a firearm from inside a vehicle, aimed it at several individuals, and discharged multiple rounds. Tragically, Kelly Glaubensklee was struck by a bullet and succumbed to his injuries despite efforts to save him.

The police investigation revealed that Rendon was seated in the car from which the shots were fired, corroborating witness testimonies and video evidence obtained from attendees at the party.

With the recent sentencing, justice has been served for the victim, Kelly Glaubensklee, and the community can find solace in knowing that the perpetrator will be held accountable for his actions.
